Prescription: Laughter

It is said that “distance makes the heart grow fonder.” Of course, that is not achieved without some dedication and hard work. Because when we find love, we desire to spend as much time with that person as possible. Sometimes though, circumstances of life place great distances between lovers. And so the new challenge of maintaining quality time from afar begins.

Today’s featured fortune showed up right after its owner said goodbye to her boyfriend, and was settling into the new life of a long distance relationship. It was a bittersweet moment for her; knowing that their separation was finite, but still missing the everyday presence of her partner. Though she had trouble with the frustration of living in a new place on her own, she found distraction in brainstorming a list of all the activities and personal interests she would now have time to focus on. She cracked open her fortune cookie and, almost like a friend making light of the situation, it seemed to encapsulate her feelings in a lighthearted message. And it made her laugh. It was just the motivator she needed to make the most of this new situation and start jumping into what makes her happy and healthy 😉

Speaking from my own experience, it can be easy to get sucked into the dark details of a situation; the drama of it all. Going down that path can become something of an uncontrollable spiral. Amazingly, one of the simplest cures is laughter. What they say is true, laughter is the best medicine. And today’s pocket prophecy is such a wonderful reminder to prescribe ourselves laughter, enjoyed once daily… or more often, as needed.

Thank you for sharing your story with us and the reminder to bring more joy into our lives. For those reading along, I greatly appreciate you stopping by. Have you kept a fortune around because it lifted your spirits? If so, I would love to hear about it. Email me a picture with a snippet of why you kept it around, and I will feature it here. Until next time, be well.
